The Challenge
A platform built for organic growth that search engines couldn't see
Emprenur is a Latino and Latin American-focused professional networking and freelance marketplace — built around three distinct audiences operating on one system: freelancers bidding on work, businesses posting jobs and hiring talent, and an affiliate network growing the community through referrals. The platform spans three languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese), supports community features including forums, events, and business coaching, and runs on a MERN-based architecture with 40+ data models covering job postings, proposals, contracts, messaging, and payments. The ambition was to be a professional home for Latino entrepreneurs, not just another gig tool — and organic search was central to how that audience would find it. The problem was structural and invisible. Emprenur's frontend was built on Create React App — a fully client-side-rendered architecture that works fine in a browser but is effectively invisible to search engines and social crawlers. When Google or a social platform requested an Emprenur page, they received an empty HTML shell: no content, no metadata, nothing to index. Every job posting, every freelancer profile, every service listing existed only after JavaScript executed in a browser. The platform had zero real path to organic search visibility by design. The client's initial instinct was a dependency-only CRA upgrade — modernise the codebase, resolve technical debt, keep the rendering model. It was the cheaper and faster route. It would also have left the core problem completely untouched. Crawlers would still see a blank shell. Codeflamme identified the gap, made the case for the harder and correct fix, and scoped the full migration instead.

Full Next.js migration + production-grade SEO and AEO infrastructure
Codeflamme delivered a complete frontend migration from Create React App to Next.js, shifting Emprenur from a client-only rendering model to one where every page serves complete, crawlable HTML on first request — no JavaScript execution required on the crawler's side. Codebase modernisation and hardening were executed as part of the migration itself rather than deferred, so the team inherited a clean, maintainable architecture rather than a ported version of the old one. The SEO and AEO build-out was scoped in full alongside the migration. That included a multilingual SEO architecture with hreflang and canonical tag strategy across English, Spanish, and Portuguese, with locale-specific Open Graph imagery per language. Structured data was implemented across four schema types — Person, Review/AggregateRating, Service, and WebSite+SearchAction — giving Google and AI answer engines structured signals about what every page represents. An llms.txt implementation was added to support discoverability by AI answer engines, ahead of most competitors in the category. Profile discoverability was handled with precision: paid member profiles are server-rendered with auto-generated slugs, meta tags, and Person schema; free profiles are noindexed to protect crawl budget and concentrate search equity where it generates return. The engagement ran on a staging-first, milestone-verified model with four defined checkpoints: Next.js core rendering confirmed on staging, SEO admin panel functional and client-operable, on-page and technical SEO signed off with Search Console and Bing Webmaster configured, and a joint regression check across all critical flows before production launch. A signed Delivery Commitment Addendum backed every milestone with committed dates and a mutual penalty structure — giving the client hard accountability rather than a best-effort timeline.
